The fund will focus its spending on three thrusts, the first of which is to develop the capabilities of local scientists. Second will be be to start collaborations on research topics that are linked to development, and third will partnerships and challenge funds which will be utilized to incubate ideas for development.
The UK government will spend a total of £75,000,000 every year, for five years on the project, and expects to gain additional funding from the partner countries themselves and the private sector.
